Prices for most memory spot products remained firm this week, with only embedded memory prices climbing upward

This month, as upstream resource pricing and supply arrangements were successively finalized, NAND resource prices have essentially risen to above $0.11/GB. Additionally, the recent presence of downstream manufacturers purchasing in bulk on the trading market has further stimulated an increase in resource trading prices. Aside from embedded eMMC and UFS products, whose prices have been adjusted upward in line with significant resource cost increases, the spot memory market remained largely stable this week.

Although memory manufacturers have responded swiftly this quarter by raising the prices of corresponding finished products to cope with continuously rising production costs, the pace of price increases for memory products has lagged far behind the rate of resource cost hikes. This is due to manufacturers' existing inventories of older stock and the time required for new costs to be passed through to finished products, leading to some products already falling into a price inversion situation. Even as memory product price increases have significantly dampened purchasing on the demand side, resource prices show no signs of halting their upward trend. With rising spot product costs and worsening price inversion pressures, coupled with persistent market expectations of continued supply-side price increases next year, overall spot market prices have remained firm.

Regarding upstream resources, Flash Wafer prices rose across the board last Thursday, with 1Tb QLC, 1Tb TLC, 512Gb TLC, and 256Gb TLC Flash Wafer prices increasing to $14.20, $15.00, $10.20, and $5.80 respectively, while DDR chip prices remained unchanged for the time being.

Although the prices of upstream components continue to rise, the previously accumulated excessive increases in finished memory products have already dampened demand in the channel market. Consequently, weak demand is also exerting pressure on the prices of finished products to climb further. Recently, channel clients with low inventory levels have released modest procurement demand in preparation for the first quarter of the upcoming year, with some channel manufacturers offering slight concessions to facilitate transactions. Overall, the prices of channel SSDs and DDR modules remain stable and firm at elevated levels.

Prices for industry-grade SSDs and DDR modules remained largely stable this week. Notably, as upstream suppliers strategically shift their focus toward the server market, PC manufacturers have responded swiftly to secure supply stability. However, apart from leading PC OEMs, which possess certain supply resilience, other manufacturers are finding it difficult to secure effective allocations. Faced with severe supply constraints, some PC OEMs have recently scaled up their demand projections for Q1 of next year. Yet industry suppliers are also grappling with tight supply and high resource costs, and are only accepting limited orders within their capacity based on expectations of further price increases. At present, memory manufacturers have successively negotiated new quarterly orders with some industry clients.

Recently, the average selling price (ASP) of 1Tb TLC/QLC wafers has exceeded $0.11/GB, while the ASP of 512Gb TLC wafers has risen to nearly $0.16/GB. Faced with having to accept high-cost resources, memory manufacturers have accordingly implemented significant price increases for embedded products such as eMMC and UFS, driven by rising costs. Integrated eMCP and uMCP products have followed suit with price adjustments, while LPDDR4X product prices remain unchanged for now.
