According to foreign media reports, following a non-exclusive licensing agreement worth up to $20 billion with AI chip startup Groq (which also involved absorbing its team), Nvidia is in advanced talks to acquire Israeli artificial intelligence firm AI21 Labs, with the deal value potentially reaching $3 billion.
The report indicates that Nvidia’s interest in AI21 Labs centers primarily on the company’s approximately 200-person technical team. Most members of this team hold advanced degrees and possess scarce professional and technical capabilities in artificial intelligence research and development. AI21 Labs was valued at around $1.4 billion in a 2023 funding round, in which both Nvidia and Alphabet-owned Google participated as investors.
