Micron has announced that it will officially break ground on its massive wafer fab in Onondaga County, New York, on January 16, 2026. The project, with a cost of $100 billion, represents the largest private investment in New York State's history. Upon completion, it will become the world's most advanced memory manufacturing base and help meet the growing demand from artificial intelligence systems, which are central to the modern economy. The project plans to construct up to four wafer fabs and, once completed, will be the largest semiconductor manufacturing facility in the United States.
