According to media reports, Chen Peiming, General Manager of Winbond Electronics, recently stated at an investors' conference that the memory market is undergoing a structural and significant transformation. The primary reason is the conflict between DRAM technology standards and advanced processes. Once the process advances to DDR5 DRAM, it becomes impossible to revert to producing DDR4 or DDR3 products. From a supply-demand perspective, the shortage of DDR5, DDR4, and DDR3 is expected to persist until 2027.

In many application areas, such as legacy servers, PCs, or devices with specific SoC specifications, there remains a continuous demand for DDR4 supply. Many customers are actively seeking to sign multi-year long-term contracts with suppliers capable of sustaining DDR4 production.

Winbond believes that DDR4 prices will continue to rise, and this structural shift will last for some time, potentially extending until 2027.
