SK Hynix officially announced today that its U.S. subsidiary, Solidigm, has decided to halt its pre-IPO financing and initial public offering (IPO) plans. From the initial disclosure of related financing rumors on August 5 to the company’s announcement on October 23 suspending its evaluation, a total of 79 days have passed.
SK Hynix stated that Solidigm had previously been evaluating various financing options to support capacity expansion and enhance competitiveness. However, after a comprehensive review of recent capital market conditions and stock price trends, the company determined that the current environment is not the optimal time to proceed with an IPO, and therefore decided to suspend the related evaluation.
SK Hynix also emphasized that this decision does not alter its assessment of Solidigm’s growth potential and the necessity of investment. As AI data centers continue to drive rising demand for enterprise SSDs, existing facilities alone are insufficient to meet growth, making it still necessary to build new production bases in the United States. Moving forward, SK Hynix will continue to evaluate the timing, scale, and methods of investment to balance Solidigm’s expansion with the interests of existing shareholders.
