Samsung Electronics Reportedly Establishes Advanced Packaging R&D Base in Yokohama, Japan

According to Korean media reports, Samsung Electronics held an opening ceremony for its "Advanced Packaging Laboratory (APL)" in Yokohama, Japan. Approximately 100 people attended the event, including representatives from Samsung Electronics, the Japanese government, local municipal authorities, and local partner companies. Samsung Electronics has planned to invest approximately 40 billion yen (approximately 17.45 billion RMB) over the next five years starting from 2024 to expand the APL's research infrastructure and develop advanced packaging technologies. The company has also planned to steadily increase its R&D personnel, aiming to expand the team to over 100 researchers by next year.
