Samsung Electronics Reportedly Prioritizes Yield and Efficiency Over Volume Growth, DRAM Production Ramp Slower Than Expected

By: M 8 hours ago

According to Korean media reports, despite AI-driven memory demand intensifying DRAM supply shortages, Samsung Electronics' production ramp-up pace in the second half of this year is expected to fall short of market expectations. This is primarily because Samsung is prioritizing the transition from its 5th-generation 10nm (1b) process to the 6th-generation 10nm (1c) process, with a greater focus on improving yield rather than expanding output. Reports indicate that since Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun took office, the company has been re-evaluating the processes and designs of all its products and has proactively adjusted the pace of capacity operations, shifting toward greater yield stability starting with 5th-generation DRAM.
