Samsung Reportedly Ramps Up Investment in China NAND Production Facility

According to Korean media reports, Samsung Electronics has finalized investment plans for this year and next to upgrade its most advanced NAND flash production in China. Since the first half of this year, Samsung Electronics has been advancing the conversion investment for V9 NAND in the X2 production line in Xi'an. V9 NAND flash, an advanced product featuring 280 stacked layers, is expected to reach a monthly production capacity of 40,000 to 50,000 wafers. Reports indicate that Samsung is finalizing additional investment plans to boost V9 NAND flash capacity at its fab. The plan centers on bringing in additional etching process equipment, which is a critical step in NAND flash manufacturing. It is said that Samsung has decided to make additional investments starting in the second half of next year to ensure stable mass production of V9 NAND flash, with equipment purchase orders expected to be placed around the end of this year.
