Samsung Reportedly Resumes 1.4nm Chip Development

According to foreign reports, Samsung Foundry has resumed commercialization of its 1.4nm semiconductor manufacturing technology after briefly pausing it in early 2025. With its 2nm chipmaking processes (SF2 and SF2P) currently progressing smoothly, the company is pushing ahead with the advanced development of the 1.4nm node. It is said that Samsung has made some adjustments to the roadmap, with the new timeline pushed back from 2027 to 2029. Samsung Foundry has invited partners including Applied Materials and Lam Research to kick off advanced R&D on custom chipmaking equipment, which will be delivered to Samsung's NRD-K campus.
