Qualcomm has launched two new mobile platforms, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, both featuring the company's new Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI technology, designed to significantly enhance everyday interaction smoothness on mobile devices.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is built on a 4nm process and features an octa-core CPU architecture with four performance cores running at 2.6GHz and four efficiency cores at 2.0GHz. Its GPU performance is 21% higher than the previous generation, enabling a 20% increase in app launch speed and an 18% reduction in display stutter. In terms of storage and memory, it supports up to 16GB of LPDDR4X-4200 or LPDDR5-6400 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is also a 4nm chip, but its CPU adopts a "2+6" configuration, with the performance and efficiency cores running at the same frequencies as the 6 Gen 5. Its GPU performance has seen a significant 77% boost, along with a 43% acceleration in app launch speed and a 25% reduction in screen stutter. Memory support includes LPDDR4X-4267 RAM and dual-channel UFS 3.1 storage.
Devices powered by these two SoCs are expected to launch in the second half of 2026.
