Micron Delays New York Chip Plant Construction by Five Years

According to foreign media reports citing recently released documents from Micron Technology, the timeline for Micron's fab project near Clay, New York, has been significantly extended once again. The first fab is now expected to begin DRAM production around 2030, five years later than initially anticipated. While delaying the Clay fab, the company is accelerating construction of its Boise, Idaho fab and has reallocated funding from the CHIPS Act. Currently, one of the two planned Idaho fabs is already built, with the other in the planning stage; both are set for completion ahead of the Clay County facilities. This indicates a strategic shift in Micron's project priorities.
