Google Cloud Unveils Two TPU8 Chips to Compete with NVIDIA

Google Cloud has released its latest generation of Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), designed to enhance the speed and efficiency of AI computing services. Among them, the TPU 8t is dedicated to AI training tasks, while the TPU 8i is used for running AI inference tasks. According to the announcement, the TPU 8t delivers 2.8 times the performance of the seventh-generation Ironwood TPU released last November with the same price. The TPU 8i utilizes Static Random-Access Memory (SRAM) and achieves an 80% performance improvement over the previous generation.
