Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted that, with some luck and acceleration using AI, Tesla might be able to tape out AI6 in December.
Elon Musk stated that the performance of AI5 will far exceed its specifications, as entire Tesla AI software stack is designed to maximize the utilization of every circuit, with AI software and hardware being co-signed. AI5 is primarily optimized for AI edge compute in Optimus and Robotaxi while there is still significant room for improvement.
In the same half reticle and process node, a single AI6 chip has the potential to match a dual SoC AI5.
